Our Surf School was one the first schools opening in Peniche and Portugal, its main goal is to teach safe surfing using only adequate gear and to offer highly dynamic, fun classes that continuously focus on pupils’ progress. Benifiting from beeing located in the most consistent surf spot in Peniche and Baleal Peninsulas our surf school has an ideal location for providing quality surf courses, great for beginners and intermediate surfers.

Since the School started in 1993, we have conducted over 5,600 surf courses for people from all sorts of nationalities with ages that span an equally wide range.

We are the only surf school in Portugal’s West Region that operates as a concessionary on a beach that has been exclusively reserved for water sports. As a result, we operate in an area of about 150 metres of the Baleal Camping Park beach that has been exclusively reserved for our School during the holiday season, and are thus able to run our courses on that beach under very safe conditions.

Baleal Surf Camp Surf School in Peniche is accredited by the Portuguese Surfing Federation as well as the Peniche Harbour Captancy. We are also ISA member and an active part on local initiatives together with Surfrider Foundation Europe.

Our School has been certified both by the Portuguese Surf Federation as well as by the Peniche Harbour Captaincy. Therefore, the professionalism and qualification of our surf teachers has been accredited by the entities that regulate the practice of this sport.

In 2000, the activities of our company were classified as “of national interest for tourism” by the country’s Directorate-General for Tourism, which has thus recognised the merit of the work that we’ve been developing since 1993 – and that classification constitutes an unquestionable “seal of guarantee” on the quality of the services we render. In 2007 Baleal Surf Camp - Escola de Surf do Baleal Lda. participated in a tourism award sanctioned by the national Directorate-General for Tourism, Deloitte and Publico (National Newspaper) and was in the final selection of participants and was awarded with an Honorable Mention.
